MILES FLANAGAN

British born MILES FLANAGAN, began making films at an early age – producing documentaries on youth culture in his home town of York, and in the process capturing early performances from the likes of NICK CAVE and THE BIRTHDAY PARTY. After studying at both St. Martin’s School of Art & Middlesex University, he Produced/Directed rock videos for the likes of THE POGUES, PAUL McCARTNEY and UK’s first rave idols CANDY FLIP. He also ran UK trip-hop record label SYNTHESIS PROD., releasing a series of acclaimed 12″ tunes as ATOM SMASHER & NIXOLYMPICA. He was featured on ADAM FREELAND’S influential COASTAL BREAKS album – pioneering the nu skool breaks sound for the decade to follow.

During his time in London FLANAGAN developed an animated project for DONALD PLEASENCE, and a TV series (featuring the early works of KEN RUSSELL) with New Order’s drummer STEPHEN MORRIS.

He settled in Los Angeles in the late 1990’s, directing Award winning TV spots for MICROSOFT, NIKE, VERIZON and titles for ABC, CBS, MADTV and LAKESHORE ENT.

He runs several film festivals:

• The Grindhouse/Burlesque BOOBS & BLOOD – at QUENTIN TARANTINO’S New Beverly Cinema (2010 – Present)
• The Los Angeles Animation Festival (2007 – Present) Artistic Director SEAN LENNON
• Hollywood Horrorfest (2014 – Present) – in Association with the VINCENT PRICE ART MUSEUM

In 2007 he set up his own production/design shop – PARALLAX STUDIOWORKS – creating unusual and affecting work, including the mesmerizing music video for UK’s LEATHER HANDS.  He also created a series of music promos for his collective muse, local all-girl, all-Asian rockers NYLON PINK. He continues to make unusual animation and motion graphics for both corporate and indie clients.

In 2014 his first feature as Producer, the bizarre “Green Movie” PRESIDENT WOLFMAN was released to critical acclaim – after Award winning success on the festival circuit.

In his spare time he teaches a class (in Los Feliz) on “How to Make a Profitable Indie Movie.”

He is currently shooting the supernatural indie thriller THE WHISPERERS & developing several unique feature film projects through his own production company PARALLAX.
